People are incompetent shits who have opinions about things they have no clue about without realizing they have no clue despite being repeatedly told so

We have a large project with scripting support using a really shitty bytecode-based scripting lang. Think COBOL but intentionally crippled so nobody ever attempts anything big in it. People did. There's almost two hundred thousand lines of it.

We can convert it to rust. Automatically. It just needs a bit of one time effort. But nope, someone keeps telling me in rust we lose sandboxing. I tell them about WASM. They keep spreading their BS misinformation so i tell them about WASM again. The discussion goes on for a bit about other things and then still the same person says it's a shame we'd lose sandboxing. This one is the clueless spreading misinformation unintentionally. Discord being Discord, there are a few trolls who spread it intentionally. The general sentiment is we lose sandboxing. People are idiots.

Somebody else loves dynamic langs and wants to rewrite it in lua. Manually. They then realize rewriting is impossible so they change their claim to just wanting to maintain APIs for two shitty langs instead of one. And they tell me "if you want rust why not c++ or c#?". Honestly i quit the discussion after the sandboxing fail but i got a notification when he mentioned rust and this is just completely fucking ridiculous. He has no idea what rust is and he doesn't know c++ either. And he clearly thinks all statically typed langs are the same. Well, no wonder, all mainstream ones are and he's not smart enough to learn rust or haskell. Dynamic langs attract idiots like him because Java shows them static typing must be obviously bad.

I should have known he was a brainless fucktard when he asked why JS and weak+dynamic typing are bad. The only consolation is, by his own admission, he's not smart enough to add lua support. As he says, he barely knows C, but he is utterly convinced rust is gonna kill the whole project because it's too hard for code monkeys like him.

Oh, and at the end he said he's not gonna install a rust compiler just to run the project. I don't think he understands what compiled means.
